Introduction
The Mount Nelson hotel is internationally acclaimed as Africa’s
best hotel. For almost 100 years, royalty, international and local statesmen,
celebrities and businessmen have preferred to stay here. Set in private
gardens of lavender and roses, four wings of luxurious accommodation
are reached from the main hotel via a palm avenue from the Prince of
Wales gateway, a familiar, welcoming landmark to Cape Town hospitality.
Each of the hotel’s suites and bedrooms are individually furnished
with fully appointed private bathrooms and air-conditioning. In addition,
each has a refrigerator and international touch dial telephone.
The abundant variety of fish, fruit and wine from the oceans, valleys
and vineyards of the Cape constantly inspire the hotel chefs to creative
excellence. Add a touch of exotic Malay cuisine with its French, Dutch
and Eastern influences, and the experience is a taste of true Cape cuisine.
As ever, and all year round, afternoon tea is served indoors or out.
Accommodation
Each of the 56 suites and 145 bedrooms are individually furnished and
provided with fully appointed private bathrooms. Non smoking rooms,
inter-leading rooms, executive business rooms, suites and paraplegic
facilities and rooms with balconies are available on request. Telephones
are provided in bathrooms, at bedsides and on each writing desk. Each
has a voice-mail, wake-up call as well as a data port facility.
A unique feature of the Mount Nelson Hotel is its four 'wings' (referred
to as the Palm Avenue Wing) of luxurious accommodation, all set in private
gardens planted with lavender and iceberg roses. The Palm Avenue wing
- Taunton House, Green Park, Helmsley and Hof Villa - is reached from
the main house via the leafy Palm Avenue. Guests staying in these rooms
enjoy unrivalled serenity and seclusion while residing at the Mount
